鶴羽根神社（つるはねじんじゃ）の鳥居をくぐり、太鼓橋を渡ると、右手に見えるくねくねと曲がったクロマツが被爆樹木です。地域の人からは「くねくね松」と呼ばれて親しまれています。爆心地側の幹には、縦にくぼんだ傷痕が残っています。また、社殿の右奥に見える大きなイチョウと、境内の東側にあるクスノキも被爆しました。神社の建物は原爆によって倒壊しましたが、消失は免れ、石の鳥居や太鼓橋、手水舎、唐獅子、石灯篭が当時のまま残っています。

When you walk under the torī gate of Tsuruhane Shrine and cross the arched stone bridge, the twisted Japanese black pine on the right is a hibaku tree. Called the “twisted pine” by the locals, it is a beloved tree in the community. It bears a scar from the bombing on the side of the trunk facing the hypocenter. In addition to this tree, the large gingko tree that can be seen on right (behind the shrine pavilion) and the camphor tree on the east side of the shrine grounds are also hibaku trees. While the shrine building was destroyed in the bombing, it was spared complete elimination; the stone torī, arched stone bridge, hand-washing basin, lion statue, and stone lantern are all originals from the time of the bombing.
