千田（せんだ）小学校の校舎は、原爆によって壊れましたが、地域の父兄が集まって学校の復旧に協力しました。利用できるものはすべて利用して、授業を再開したと伝えられています。学校の緑化に役立ててもらいたいと、原爆に耐えて生き残った被爆樹木も寄贈されました。フジとカイズカイブキは、校内で被爆した木です。イチョウとエノキは別の場所で被爆したものが、移植されました。そのほかにも、多くの被爆した樹木が寄贈され、緑の葉を茂らせています。

While the Senda Elementary School building was destroyed in the bombing, the men of the community gathered and worked together to rebuild it, and using all the materials they could find, they were able to resume classes. To contribute to the greening of the school, hibaku trees were also donated to Senda Elementary. The Japanese wisteria and juniper trees survived the bombing within the school grounds; the gingko and Japanese hackberry trees were replanted from their original locations. Many other hibaku trees were donated to the school, which is now awash in lush greenery.
